Job summary

GitHub, Inc. seeks a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join IT Engineering. You will support our global Hubbers, maintain internal tooling, and configure systems to ensure smooth operation across on‑prem and cloud environments.

You will lead automation efforts, develop IaC, monitor system health, and collaborate with product and engineering teams to deliver reliable, scalable services for a distributed workforce.

Qualifications

• 6+ years experience in computer science or related field with proven coding in Java, JavaScript, Python
• 3+ years’ experience managing Collaboration/SaaS applications at scale
• 2+ years’ experience of network administration (routers, switches, firewalls)
• 2+ years’ experience of client platform engineering (laptops/mobile devices) with MDM tooling

Responsibilities

• Operational excellence and continuous improvement through infrastructure automation, SaaS/Cloud integrations, and IaC
• Support on-premise infrastructure, SaaS integrations, and cloud environments
• Partner with IT and engineering teams to identify automation opportunities
• Create sustainable systems through automation and uplifts, ensuring production readiness
• Establish and maintain monitoring dashboards and reporting
• Document runbooks and technical procedures
• Provide escalation support for deployed software and IT services
• Participate in incident management rotation
• Communicate technical information effectively to internal customers
