Job summary

HiveWatch is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join our Platform Team in California. You’ll build and operate edge infrastructure connecting our SaaS platform to customer systems, ensuring performance, reliability, and observability across a distributed environment.

You’ll work on production monitoring, incident response, and automation, with a stack including Kotlin, Rust, TypeScript, Python, AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes. This is a hands-on role in a fast-growing startup setting.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering in production environments
• 3+ years in SRE, DevOps, or production operations
• Strong experience with AWS and containerized apps (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Infrastructure as Code experience (Terraform, CloudFormation)
• Proficiency in OO languages (Java, Kotlin, Python)
• Relational DB and SQL performance optimization
• Observability/monitoring expertise (Prometheus, Grafana, DataDog)
• Distributed systems debugging across microservices
• BS in CS, Eng, or equivalent practical experience

Responsibilities

• Improve reliability of production systems including monitoring and capacity planning
• Debug and resolve complex production issues across stack
• Participate in on-call rotation 24/7 coverage
• Root cause analysis and preventive measures
• Build automation to reduce toil and improve reliability
• Maintain CI/CD, observability, and DB performance
• Increase resiliency and maintainability of production environments
• Maintain on-call runbooks and disaster recovery processes
• Contribute to postmortems and reliability best practices
