Job summary

AbbVie is seeking a Lead Site Reliability Engineer for Allergan Aesthetics in the Chicago area. You will lead reliability efforts across large-scale public-facing software, own SLO/SLI frameworks, and drive automation and incident response with a hands-on approach.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with stakeholders, and champion production readiness, observability, and resilient architecture within the Cloud Platform team.

Qualifications

• Proven track record running SLO/error budget programs and incident management for large-scale production systems.
• Deep experience with observability platforms (e.g., Datadog) and alert design.
• Proficient with Terraform and Kubernetes on AWS; able to read, review, and contribute IaC.
• Strong scripting/programming skills (Python, Go) for automation and tooling.

Responsibilities

• Define and champion SLO/SLI frameworks and error budget-driven prioritization.
• Own observability strategy across services with actionable signals and user impact.
• Lead capacity planning, load testing, and resilience/chaos testing for critical services.
• Establish production readiness reviews and improve release procedures.
• Identify toil and implement automation and self-healing systems.
• Mentor engineers in reliability practices and incident response.
