Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking an experienced Site Reliability Engineer to lead SRE practices, design resilient cloud-native platforms across AWS, Azure, and Kubernetes, and build robust observability with Datadog, Splunk, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry.

You will develop automated dashboards and health scorecards, lead incident responses, and collaborate with engineering, security, and platform teams to improve production readiness and performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or related field.
• 7+ years in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, or Software Engineering.
• 4+ years supporting cloud infrastructure in AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• 3+ years managing Kubernetes platforms (EKS, AKS, GKE) in production.
• 3+ years IaC experience with Terraform or equivalent.
• 3+ years observability/monitoring platforms (Datadog, Splunk, Dynatrace, Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry).
• 3+ years building/testing CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, ArgoCD).
• 3+ years scripting with Python, Bash, PowerShell; ability to participate in on-call rotations.

Responsibilities

• Lead SRE practices: SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets to improve reliability.
• Design and support cloud-native platforms across AWS, Azure, Kubernetes.
• Build observability with Datadog, Splunk, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus.
• Develop dashboards, alerting, and health scorecards for operations.
• Lead incident response, RCA, and post-incident remediation.
• Develop IaC with Terraform and cloud automation tools.
• Create automation and self-healing to reduce toil and improve resilience.
• Collaborate with engineering, security, and platform teams for readiness.
