Job summary

UnitedHealth Group seeks a Site Reliability Engineer to architect, develop, and maintain Optum Serve cloud environments across Azure and AWS. You will work with software engineers, architects, and DevOps to ensure a secure, resilient, and high-performance infrastructure, with a focus on automation and observability.

Remote work is available nationwide, with in-office four days weekly for Minneapolis or DC-area hires.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in SRE/DevOps roles.
• Kubernetes clusters in production.
• Experience with monitoring/observability tools (e.g., Azure Monitor, Splunk, Dynatrace, Grafana, Prometheus).
• IaC with Terraform or Pulumi.
• Production cloud infrastructure experience.
• RESTful APIs exposure knowledge.
• Cloud providers: Azure or AWS.
• Networking fundamentals knowledge.
• IAM concepts and security basics.
• Kubernetes deployment and GitOps tools (Helm, ArgoCD, Flux).
• IDE and source control (VS Code, GitHub, GitLab).
• On-call rotation readiness.
• US Citizenship and security clearance suitability.
• Telecommuter policy adherence for remote workers.

Responsibilities

• Build, operate, and support IaaS and PaaS in Azure and AWS environments.
• Define, track, and report on SLIs, SLOs, and SLAs.
• Develop and support platform services, including provisioning and deployment.
• Integrate apps with centralized logging and incident management.
• Configure observability tools and alerting for production ops.
• Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation with documented runbooks.
• Assist root cause analysis and implement automation for reliability.
• Maintain and enhance automation scripts and tooling.
• Execute performance and resiliency testing for platform services.
• Tune alerts for performance, availability, cost, security, and compliance.
