Job summary

Cadre5 is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join the AmSC initiative with ORNL. The role is based near Knoxville, TN, with full-time status and potential telecommuting. The candidate will drive reliability, scalability, and best-practice implementation across Kubernetes and Linux environments.

Responsibilities include production support, on-call rotations, KPI definition, and collaboration with vendors. DOE clearance and top-tier technical proficiency are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a closely related field and at least 8 years of SRE/Systems Engineer experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy 'Q' clearance; US citizenship required.
• Excellent interpersonal/communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Lead ongoing improvements in reliability and scalability for Kubernetes and Linux-based applications and services.
• Contribute as senior technical resource to define and implement best practices and standards for the center.
• Provide primary operational support and engineering for production applications.
• Define and implement KPIs, processes and drive continuous improvement.
• Influence the architecture and implementation of solutions.
• Tune operating systems and applications to increase performance and reliability of services.
• Mentor junior staff and enable their success.
• Diagnose system operational problems quickly and effectively.
• Participate in on-call rotation providing 24-hour, 7-day support and off-hours maintenance windows.
• Coordinate with vendors to resolve hardware and software problems.
