Job summary

Cadre5 is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to support the AmSC initiative in partnership with ORNL. The role focuses on reliability, scalability, and operations for cloud-centric services and Kubernetes-based applications.

The position is full-time and telecommutable, with occasional travel to the Oak Ridge facility. Ideal candidates have 8+ years in SRE/Systems Engineering and are prepared to work in a dynamic, mission-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or closely related field plus 8+ years as SRE/Systems Engineer or equivalent experience.
• U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain DOE Q clearance may be required.

Responsibilities

• Lead ongoing improvements in reliability and scalability for Kubernetes and Linux-based applications and services.
• Provide primary operational support and engineering for production applications.
• Define and implement KPIs, processes and drive continuous improvement.
• Influence architecture and implementation of solutions for AmSC initiative.
• Tune operating systems and applications to improve performance and reliability.
• Mentor junior staff and enable their success.
• Diagnose system operational problems quickly and effectively.
• Participate in on-call rotation (24/7 coverage).
• Coordinate with vendors to resolve hardware/software issues.
• Deliver ORNL’s mission by aligning behaviors with Cadre5 core values and promoting diversity and inclusion.
