Job summary

Airbnb is seeking a highly experienced Senior Staff Engineer to lead a comprehensive Site Reliability Engineering program. The role focuses on driving reliability across Airbnb’s infrastructure and products, partnering with engineering teams to implement robust, scalable, and easy-to-operate services.

As a senior technical contributor, you will mentor others, shape architectural practices, and help resolve complex scalability challenges in a multi-cloud environment.

Qualifications

• BS, MS, or PhD in computer science, related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 12+ years of software engineering experience, with emphasis on system architecture and design in consumer-facing tech companies.
• 5+ years of senior-level technical leadership or architect experience.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across teams and organizations.
• Demonstrated expertise in building and scaling high-availability systems across multi-cloud environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop a long-term Reliability strategy and roadmap.
• Design and influence company-wide SRE architecture, standards, and tooling.
• Create scalable incident management processes and reduce toil.
• Mentor and lead other Site Reliability Engineers with servant leadership.
• Partner with product engineering teams on large-scale distributed systems design.
• Foster a culture where Reliability is a proactive priority and a core mind-set.
