Job summary

UnitedMasters in San Francisco is seeking a senior SRE/Platform engineer to own reliability and security across our infrastructure. You will design tooling, monitor systems, and shape incident response.

You will lead an agentic, AI-driven security program, integrate threat modeling into the development lifecycle, and coach peers to raise their game.

This role balances scale, cost, and security as we grow our engineering platform.

Qualifications

• Senior-to-staff SRE/platform/infrastructure engineer with production reliability experience.
• Hands-on security experience enough to lead security discussions without a dedicated team.
• Practical experience building with LLMs and agentic systems; understands failure modes and human oversight needs.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals; builds tools and systems, not just config work.
• Coaching mindset; measures impact by lifting teams around you.

Responsibilities

• Partner with platform, data, QA, and product teams to understand their automation, infrastructure, monitoring, and security needs.
• Build tooling and processes that solve the problems those conversations surface.
• Build and maintain an agentic vulnerability detection and mitigation pipeline that will scan, triage, and propose fixes, with human-in-the-loop guardrails.
• Embed security into the development lifecycle, including threat modeling, supply-chain hygiene, secrets management, secure-by-default patterns.
• Lead security and reliability incident response as first-class operational concerns.
• Define company-level SLAs, SLOs, and Error Budgets, and help teams set their own.
• Steer system design toward shared tooling and decisions that ensure reliability, scalability, security, and maintainability.
• Join the on-call rotation as a peer to spot process gaps and coach on response.
• Act as a senior escalation for infrastructure and security issues, helping resolve them while coaching teams to handle the next.
• Own our AWS infrastructure and set the long-term strategy for our reliability and security posture, balancing scalability and cost.
