Job summary

PLACE is seeking a Senior SQL Server Database Engineer to own a newly acquired SQL Server estate, ensuring it is dependable, observable, and scalable. You will partner with engineering, analytics, finance, and leadership to deliver tested backups, high availability, performance tuning, and automated runbooks.

You should thrive in complex environments and be capable of proactive communication about degradations.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in production database engineering with 24x7 ownership
• Deep expertise in SQL Server 2016+ including Always On and clustering
• Experience migrating on-prem to cloud and automating with scripting

Responsibilities

• Own availability, recoverability, and performance for SQL Server platforms
• Maintain complete inventory of the SQL Server estate and dependencies
• Validate backups and perform regular restores to prove RTO/RPO
• Manage high availability and replication architectures with planned failover
• Lead incident response and post-incident reviews with corrective actions
• Automate provisioning, patching, and maintenance tasks via PowerShell, T-SQL, Python or IaC
