Job summary

Medical Guardian seeks a Senior Database Engineer to own the enterprise data platforms, including Microsoft SQL Server, Azure Cosmos DB, and future cloud-native databases. You will lead uptime, performance, security, backups, and DR readiness while coordinating with Data Operations, AI/ML, Infrastructure, Security, and Architecture to deliver scalable, compliant data services across the org.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional experience administering Microsoft SQL Server in enterprise production environments.
• Demonstrated expertise in performance tuning, indexing strategy, query optimization, and workload analysis.
• Experience owning database backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes.
• Strong understanding of SQL Server architecture, storage management, filegroups, partitioning, and high availability technologies.
• Experience supporting database upgrades, migrations, patching, and configuration/lifecycle management.
• Deep understanding of database security, permissions, encryption, auditing, and access management.

Responsibilities

• Own enterprise database platforms and provide technical ownership across production, development, and DR environments.
• Establish standards, governance, maintenance procedures, and lifecycle management for databases.
• Drive modernization, upgrades, migrations, and cloud adoption including Nexus components.
• Administer Microsoft SQL Server and Azure Cosmos DB, monitor performance, and ensure security/compliance.
• Develop automation and CI/CD for database deployments; maintain IaC and runbooks.
• Lead incident response, post-mortems, and disaster recovery planning across data platforms.
