Job summary

Contact Government Services, LLC is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to manage Microsoft SQL Server, perform backups, and optimize performance. The role includes migrations from SQL Server 2012 to 2016 and supporting virtualization with VMware/Hyper‑V.

The candidate will handle planning, testing, installations, and configurations of hardware and software while ensuring confidentiality and working well in teams or independently.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years direct SQL Server DBA experience.
• Experience with source/change control, bug tracking, SDLC and relational databases.
• Ability to document, explain, and present any task related to decisions and processes.
• Comfort with and willingness to work in groups and individually on both large and small projects.

Responsibilities

• Administer Microsoft SQL Server including Replication, Backup/Restore procedures, Capacity Planning, Reporting Services, Analysis Services, and Integration Services.
• Migrate databases from SQL Server 2012 to SQL Server 2016.
• Provide all aspects of basic systems administration support including planning, execution, testing, installations, and configurations of new hardware and software.
• Recommend/implement solutions for SQL performance monitoring and tuning.
• Implement, deploy, and/or support Microsoft Technologies such as Visual Studio Framework, VB.NET, ASP.NET and Web Services.
• Support visualization technologies such as VMware and Microsoft Hyper‑V, creating and configuring virtual machines.
• Perform backups of the web, application, and database servers according to policies; include daily incremental backups and full weekly backups.
