Job summary

CGS Federal (Contact Government Services) is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to manage all aspects of Microsoft SQL Server, including replication, backups, and performance tuning, in support of government projects in the San Francisco area.

This full-time role requires at least five years of SQL Server experience, strong virtualization skills with VMware and Hyper-V, and the ability to work independently and in teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years relevant experience directly related to SQL Server Database Administration.
• Ability to handle multiple assignments concurrently.
• Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V.
• Experience and knowledge related to source/change control, bug tracking, SDLC, and relational databases integration.
• Ability to handle confidential and/or sensitive materials.
• Comfort with group and individual work on large and small projects.
• Ability to document, explain, and present tasks and processes.

Responsibilities

• Administer Microsoft SQL Server including Replication, Backup/Restore, Capacity Planning, Reporting Services, Analysis Services, and Integration Services.
• Migrate databases from SQL Server 2012 to 2016.
• Provide systems administration support for new hardware/software installations and configurations.
• Recommend/implement SQL performance monitoring and tuning solutions.
• Implement, deploy, and support Microsoft technologies such as VB.NET, ASP.NET, and Web Services.
• Support virtualization technologies like VMware and Hyper-V, including creating/configuring VMs.
• Perform backups of web, application, and database servers per policy, including daily incremental and weekly full backups.
• Conduct database monitoring, space management, and provide extended support when required.
