Job summary

vTech Solution seeks a DBA3 to lead implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance optimization of Microsoft SQL Server environments across on‑premises and Azure platforms. You will ensure high availability, disaster recovery, security compliance, and support development teams and IT infrastructure.

The role requires collaboration with security officers and IT leadership, participation in DR/Incident Response, and may involve 24/7 operations at times.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience managing enterprise-level Microsoft SQL Server environments including on-premises and Azure platforms.
• Expertise with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and deep understanding of database internals.
• Advanced proficiency in Transact-SQL (T-SQL) programming.
• Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and ETL workflows.
• Strong knowledge of Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and SQL Server on Azure VMs.
• Experience implementing security and compliance measures including role-based access control (RBAC), encryption, and user permissions.
• Proven ability in performance monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting complex database issues.
• Familiarity with Azure services such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Microsoft Entra ID, Azure Key Vault, and Azure Backup.
• Experience with database migration between on-premises and Azure environments.
• Ability to write automation scripts using T-SQL, PowerShell, or command line tools.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, patch, and upgrade SQL Server instances in production, staging, and development environments.
• Manage server storage, system databases, and data file structures to ensure optimal performance.
• Proactively monitor system health and tune performance by optimizing indexes, queries, and resolving blocking or deadlocks.
• Design, test, and execute backup and disaster recovery policies, including High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions such as Always On Availability Groups and Failover Clusters.
• Develop and maintain documentation for installation, monitoring, security policies, configuration changes, and best practices.
• Implement and enforce strict security standards including role-based access control, encryption, and compliance with state regulations.
• Provide developer support including schema design, code review, and query optimization.
• Automate routine maintenance tasks using T-SQL, PowerShell, and command-line scripts.
• Administer Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines including backup, monitoring, and security configurations.
• Collaborate with IT architecture, CIO, and managers to design scalable database solutions and contribute to business case development.
• Serve as Tier III support for critical database issues ensuring system stability and continuity.
• Mentor peers and junior staff through formal guidance and documentation.
• Participate in Disaster Recovery/Business Resumption and Incident Response Teams as required, possibly involving 24/7 operations at remote locations.
