Job summary

U.S. Bank is seeking an experienced Database Engineer to administer and optimize Microsoft SQL Server databases across on-premises, Azure, and AWS.

You will design and support high availability and disaster recovery solutions, perform migrations, and lead incident response to improve reliability. The role requires 10+ years of infrastructure experience and strong skills in T-SQL, PowerShell, and database performance tuning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 5 years in a total IT environment.
• Minimum 10 years designing, developing and supporting technology infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and optimize Microsoft SQL Server databases across on-premises, Azure, and AWS.
• Design, implement, and support HA and DR solutions including Always On AGs, Failover Clustering, Replication, and Log Shipping.
• Perform installations, configurations, patching, upgrades, migrations, and lifecycle management for prod and non-prod environments.
• Monitor database health, availability, capacity, and performance; proactively resolve issues for stability.
• Lead production incident response, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Partner with development, infrastructure, DevOps, and security teams for deployments and cloud modernization.
• Manage and enhance backup, recovery, business continuity, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Drive automation and governance while mentoring engineers and promoting best practices.
• Provide technical leadership and collaborate on database design and performance optimization.
