Qualifications

• Masters degree with clinical fellowship and 3 years general patient care experience (2 years in a relevant multi-disciplinary specialty setting) within the past 5 years.
• Minimum of 40 hours of professional development, 50% CEUs or relevant coursework; remainder through mentoring, Grand Rounds, independent reading.
• Prior experience as a clinical preceptor and experience teaching a wide variety of audiences.
• Demonstrates ability to consistently meet clinical caseload requirements of a staff level therapist.
• Possession of or eligibility for CPR certification.
• Basic computer skills in word processing and online communication.
• Proven ability to mentor professional behaviors including interpersonal, time management, problem solving and self-initiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs speech language pathology evaluations on referral and administers tests to determine functional limitations.
• Independently conducts Modified Barium Swallow Studies and FEES.
• Establishes short and long term intervention goals in consultation with the referring practitioner.
• Develops and adjusts therapeutic intervention plans based on patient progress.
• Delivers direct patient care and supervises support staff where appropriate.
• Completes discharge planning and maintains accurate patient records.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, staff and other hospital personnel.
• Reports patient progress during rounds, clinics and conferences.
