Job summary

The Staff Speech Language Pathologist II at UCSF Health reports to the Rehab Service Manager and delivers both direct and indirect patient care. The role primarily serves pediatric and adolescent patients, with some adult cases, including those who are deaf or hard of hearing.

• Minimum of 12 months experience as a licensed therapist.

• Ability to recognize signs of distress.
• Possession of or proven eligibility for CPR certification.
• Basic computer skills in word processing and online communication.
• Good interpersonal, time management, problem solving and self-initiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and administer a full range of speech therapy services for patients who are deaf and hard of hearing.
• Conduct patient evaluations using speech language pathology tests and measurements.
• Establish therapeutic intervention goals and develop intervention programs.
• Implement therapeutic intervention plans utilizing the full scope of speech language pathology practices.
• Provide services to pediatric, adolescent, and adult patients as needed.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary health provider teams.

Under general direction and upon receipt of written referrals, the Staff Speech Language Pathologist II plans and administers a full range of speech therapy services for patients who are deaf and hard of hearing. Services include patient evaluations using speech language pathology tests and measurements, establishment of therapeutic intervention goals and development of therapeutic intervention programs, and implementation of therapeutic intervention plans utilizing all aspects of the speech language pathology scope of practice.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Possession of a degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited professional educational program.
• Minimum of 12 months experience as a licensed therapist.

• Possession of or proven eligibility for CPR certification.

• Possession of good interpersonal, time management, problem solving and self-initiation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior speech language pathology experience in an academic medical center environment.
• Prior experience working on an interdisciplinary health provider team.
• Prior experience with evaluating and treating pediatric deaf and hard of hearing patients.

License/Certification

• Possession of or proven eligibility for licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist by the Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Board of California.
