Job summary

O'Connell Robertson in Austin, TX is seeking a Specifications Writer to join the Specifications Team within the Architectural Quality Department. You will develop, coordinate, and maintain comprehensive project specifications and manuals to support successful architectural project delivery.

You will coordinate specs with drawings, lead kickoff meetings, research materials, advise on standards, and manage revisions through design and construction.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience supporting architectural projects.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
• Experience preparing and coordinating architectural specifications and project manuals.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials, building systems, and construction documentation.
• Excellent organization, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam and/or Adobe Acrobat.
• Experience with SpecLink or similar specification software is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate specifications with drawings and consultant docs for completeness and consistency.
• Lead specification kickoff and coordination meetings.
• Support material research, evaluation, and selection.
• Advise project teams on standards and best practices.
• Manage specifications through design and construction, including revisions and addenda.
• Collaborate with manufacturers to maintain current product knowledge.
• Ensure compliance with firm standards, codes, and owner requirements.
• Support improvement of specification standards and templates.
