Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Senior Specialty Mechanical Equipment Engineer to support Nuclear Projects – Oak Ridge Group in Oak Ridge, TN. The role focuses on specialty machinery design and project leadership.

The ideal candidate has 15+ years of experience, a B.S. in Engineering, and proficiency with SOLIDWORKS, Creo, ANSYS. Occasional travel and compliance with quality systems are expected.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience.
• B.S. Engineering from ABET-accredited engineering program.
• Knowledge and experience with specialized mechanical equipment.
• Experience with management of scope, schedule, and budget of individual projects.
• Ability to follow established Amentum’s quality procedures and ensures that all work accomplished under their control is accomplished under established quality procedures
• Experience working within a quality system based on ISO 9000 or NQA-1
• Knowledge of machine design, selection of machine elements (bearings, seals, etc.) and machine controls (hydraulic, electrical, etc.)
• Mentoring specialty mechanical engineers and designers
• Communication of complex ideas to management and clients
• Creation and review of complex mechanical calculations
• Competent using discipline‑specific technical software such as: SOLIDWORKS, Creo, ANSYS, etc.
• Competence using Microsoft Office software
• US citizenship required
