Job summary

University of Michigan Health-West is seeking a Lead Sterile Processing Technician for the Evening shift. The role supervises SPD Technicians, coordinates decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and storage of instrumentation and supplies.

You will act as a liaison to SPD leadership and Surgery, ensuring safe and efficient operations. The position requires leadership, 4 years in Sterile Processing, current SPD certification, and knowledge of decontamination, sterilization principles, and

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current Sterile Processing Technician Certification required.
• Endoscope reprocessing or Instrument Specialist certification preferred or to be obtained within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Oversee SPD Technicians on their shift and assign work.
• Supervise workflow to ensure timely completion of tasks.
• Onboard and mentor new SPD staff during orientation.
• Coordinate with SPD Manager and Surgical Services educator on new systems.
• Maintain compliance with sterilization standards and hospital policies.
• Monitor instrument processing quality and accuracy.
