Job summary

Blue Origin in Florida is seeking a senior software verification engineer to lead MB design and formal methods for safety-critical software on the New Glenn rocket. You will author software development and verification plans, drive V&V programs, and mentor engineers across the program.

This is a hands-on role focusing on qualification for flight and system-wide software readiness. You will collaborate with Guidance & Control and systems engineers to meet performance requirements, while evolving

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of verification/validation experience for safety-critical software.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience in full lifecycle development of aerospace systems (requirements, design, implementation, integration, verification/validation, qualification, operation).
  • Demonstrated experience with MATLAB and Simulink and autocoding methods.
  • Hands-on embedded software testing and test development.
  • U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Define and author the software development and verification plans.
  • Plan and execute the integrated software verification and validation program.
  • Define risk reduction integration methods in coordination with system engineering.
  • Monitor and approve system-level software tests.
  • Collaborate with Guidance & Control engineers or systems engineers to develop testing solutions against system-level performance requirements.
  • Participate in all aspects of integrated hardware/software system verification and validation including planning, execution, troubleshooting, issue resolution, documentation of results, and reviews.
  • Promote Design for Verification as a core principle of the development team.
  • Help establish methods and processes to qualify Simulink autocoded low-level software requirements.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to other engineers across the program and the company.
  • Collaborate with software development engineers and hardware simulation engineers to identify and resolve root causes of failures.
  • Generate metrics and trending for managing risk and communicating software readiness for flight operations.
