Blue Origin in Huntsville, AL is seeking a senior software engineer to lead verification and validation of flight software for the New Glenn system. The role emphasizes Model Based Design, formal methods, and alignment with safety standards such as DO-178C.

Qualifications

B.S. degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or related technical discipline.
7+ years relevant experience with verification/validation of safety critical software.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Experience in the full lifecycle development of aerospace systems, including requirement definition, design solution definition, implementation, integration, verification and validation, qualification, commissioning and operation.
Demonstrated experience with MATLAB and Simulink and autocoding methods.
Hands-on experience with embedded software testing and test development.
Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Responsibilities

Define and author the software development and verification plans
Plan and execute the integrated software verification and validation program
Define risk reduction integration methods in coordination with system engineering
Monitor and approve system-level software tests
Work with Guidance & Control engineers or systems engineers to develop testing solutions against system-level performance requirements.
Participate in all aspects of integrated hardware/software system verification and validation including planning, execution, troubleshooting, issue resolution, documentation of results, and reviews
Promote Design for Verification as a core principle of the development team
Help establish the methods and processes necessary to qualify Simulink autocoded low level software requirements
Mentor and provide technical guidance to other engineers across the program and the company
Collaborate with software development engineers and hardware simulation engineers to identify and resolve root causes of failures
Generate metrics and trending for managing risk and communicating software readiness for flight operations
