Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Senior Flight Software Engineer II to own the satellite flight software lifecycle, from architecture to validation. You will mentor a team of spacecraft engineers and collaborate with hardware teams to ensure robust space mission software across Linux-based operating systems and embedded targets.

Responsibilities include design, coding, testing, and integration of mission systems, plus in-orbit support and performance optimization.

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in Software or Computer Engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum 5 years of spacecraft software development experience; MS counts as two years.
• Experience with C, C++, Python in an aerospace context.
• Embedded software experience for space missions.
• Strong understanding of space missions from conception through flight and disposal.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement software to build and integrate mission systems for satellites and ground stations.
• Design, develop, code, test, debug, and document system software.
• Review code and system designs.
• Analyze code for efficiency, stability, and scalability.
• Integrate and validate new product designs.
• Provide post-production/in-orbit customer support.
