CesiumAstro is seeking a Senior Software Project Engineer to lead software projects for satellites and aerospace systems. You will manage embedded firmware development, coordinate with customers and stakeholders, and guide teams through agile and traditional design methodologies in a fast-paced, aerospace environment.

The role emphasizes planning, status communication, and lifecycle governance to ensure high-reliability software delivery for space hardware platforms.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
• 5+ years total experience including 1 year embedded software and 3+ years software project management.
• Excellent communication tailored to audience.
• Familiarity with board-level hardware design processes.
• Knowledge of multiple software lifecycle approaches including Agile and V-model.
• Experience with firmware development project management.

Responsibilities

• Create software development plans within cost and schedule constraints.
• Lead planning meetings, retrospectives, and daily standups.
• Communicate project status to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Represent the software engineering team to programmatic stakeholders.
• Maintain software issue tracking systems (e.g., Jira).
• Prioritize features based on stakeholder input and conflicts.
• Interface with customers and vendors.
• Ensure consistent software development lifecycle execution.
• Continuously improve software project execution processes.
