Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Senior Flight Software Engineer to own satellite flight software and SIT/L testing across development stages. You will design, implement, test, and validate software for attitude, command and data handling, navigation, thermal and power systems.

Ideal candidate has 5+ years in spacecraft software, strong C/C++, Python, and embedded skills, plus experience with space missions from concept to flight. You will lead and mentor engineers in a startup-like environment.

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in Software or Computer Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of spacecraft software development.
• Experience with C, C++, Python in aerospace.
• Hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting.
• Understanding of space mission design and operations.
• Experience with software release and configuration management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement software for mission systems including satellites, ground stations, and mission operations centers.
• Design, develop, code, test, debug, and document system software.
• Review code and system designs.
• Analyze code for efficiency, stability, and scalability.
• Integrate and validate new product designs.
• Provide post-production/in-orbit customer support.
• Interface with hardware design and development engineers.
• Assess third party and open-source software.
