Job summary

BlackSky is seeking a Senior Structural Analysis Engineer to support the development, verification, and test of satellite systems and hardware. You will build FEMs for space hardware and ground support equipment, evaluate environments and flightworthiness, and work with operators/launch providers to ensure compatibility with loads.

You will join a fast-paced, highly skilled team and may work remotely with 15-30% travel, reporting to the Director, Mechanical Engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• At least six years of professional experience performing structural analysis on spacecraft/launch vehicle structures.
• Experience performing static, modal, and vibration analyses to predict forces, stresses, deflections, and responses.

Responsibilities

• Perform moderate-scale structural analysis with cross-functional coordination.
• Develop and maintain FEMs for components, subsystems, and satellites.
• Produce documentation of analyses in reports and presentations.
• Create and execute structural test plans for vibration, shock, and static loads.
• Develop and maintain structural analysis software tools.
