Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced Software Systems Engineer for the Spacecraft Systems Engineering team. You will bridge flight software with system functions and ground operations across the entire life cycle, ensuring requirements and interfaces are robust and verifiable.

You will mentor engineers, define software strategies, and collaborate with subsystem teams to deliver integrated spacecraft software solutions.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, Aerospace, or similar fields.
• Demonstrated systems engineering fundamentals across lifecycle phases.
• 10+ years in design, development, and test of aerospace systems, preferably spacecraft.
• Familiarity with spacecraft operations and flight software development.
• Knowledge of CCSDS standards and space data formats.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Define system-level software requirements and allocations for spacecraft software.
• Coordinate software architecture strategy and implementation approach.
• Create guidelines for development, verification, and life cycle processes.
• Oversee software resources and ICDs, plus verification activities.
• Review software management plans and test readiness reviews.
• Mentor junior engineers in flight software and systems engineering.
