Job summary

Columbus Technologies in Pasadena, CA is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer to contribute to spacecraft, instrument and robotic projects.

You will design mechanical structures, create complex CAD models and detailed drawings, and work within a highly collaborative engineering team. Responsibilities include running configuration trades, interfacing with space science experts and manufacturing, and performing conceptual designs for feasibility and cost estimates.

Qualifications

• Mechanical design of spacecraft primary and secondary structures, mechanisms and instruments.
• Engineering CAD tools such as Siemens NX, CATIA or Creo.
• Creating engineering drawings using ASME Y14.100-2017.
• GD&T using ASME Y14.5-2018.
• Trade studies and conceptual configurations for mechanical systems.
• Aerospace fabrication processes.
• PLM tools such as Teamcenter, Enovia or Windchill.

Responsibilities

• Design Engineer for a spacecraft, instrument or robotic project.
• Create complex CAD models, assemblies and drawings.
• Collaborate with world class engineers in a highly collaborative team.
• Develop configuration trades on mechanical systems for spacecraft projects.
• Interface with space science experts, analysts, manufacturing engineers, and project staff.
• Perform conceptual spacecraft design for feasibility and cost estimates.
