Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced Harness Design Lead to oversee electrical and mechanical harnesses for Mk1 Vehicle modules. You will develop wiring interconnect diagrams, harness assembly and installation drawings, and 3D routed data using Creo Cabling and Zuken E3.

The role drives safe spaceflight hardware and requires strong CAD skills and manufacturability focus. You will mentor junior engineers, participate in trade studies, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure

Qualifications

• B.S. in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, Computer Engineering, or related technical subject area.
• 10+ years of experience designing Wire Harnesses for the Aerospace industry.
• Familiarity with Creo, Zuken or Windchill or experience with other high-end CAD routing software.
• Understanding and application of wire derating analysis.
• Working knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620A, NASA-STD-8739.4, SAE AS50881.
• Strong electrical/mechanical design and integration skills using 3-D CAD software.
• Design for manufacturability experience.

Responsibilities

• Design of electrical harnesses for power distribution, RF, communication and high-speed data signal.
• Select harness components, connectors, backshells, cable and wire.
• Create Wiring diagrams utilizing Zuken E3.
• Create 3D routed harness data files utilizing Creo Cabling.
• Create harness detail and installation drawings from 3D harness data sets.
• Design and integration of harness support brackets.
• Support design configuration development and trade studies.
• Provide technical guidance for hardware installation.
• Support assembly and testing of cables and harnesses.
• Report on activity schedule and technical status.
• Identify opportunities for technical improvements.
• Mentor and train less experienced harness engineers.
