Job summary

Blue Origin in California is seeking a senior harness design engineer to lead the electrical and mechanical harness design for the Mk1 Vehicle. You will develop wiring interconnect diagrams (WID), harness assembly drawings, and harness installation drawings.

This role directly impacts spaceflight safety and repeatability, leveraging aerospace harness experience, 3D CAD, and industry standards. You will mentor junior engineers, participate in trade studies, and support integration with test teams

Qualifications

• B.S. in aerospace or related technical field.
• 10+ years designing wire harnesses for aerospace.
• Experience with Creo, Zuken, Windchill or similar CAD routing tools.
• Understanding wire derating analysis.
• Knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620A, NASA-STD-8739.4, SAE AS50881.
• Strong 3D CAD design and integration skills.
• Design for manufacturability experience.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical harnesses for power, RF, data, and high-speed signals.
• Select harness components and hardware, connectors, backshells, cable and wire.
• Create Wiring diagrams using Zuken E3.
• Create 3D routed harness data files using Creo Cabling.
• Create harness installation drawings from 3D data sets.
• Design harness supports and brackets.
• Support design configuration development and trade studies.
• Provide technical guidance for hardware installation.
• Support assembly and testing of cables and harnesses.
• Report activity schedule and technical status.
• Identify opportunities for technical improvements.
• Mentor and train less experienced harness engineers.
