Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer in Colorado to lead the architecture, development, and qualification of spacecraft attitude‑control actuators and momentum‑management systems. You will own control algorithms, motor‑control solutions, and real‑time embedded software across the full product lifecycle.

The role requires 15+ years in reaction wheel systems or similar aerospace actuators, with deep experience in controls modeling, embedded systems, and hardware/software integration.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of direct experience designing, developing, testing, and deploying Reaction Wheel Assemblies or similar spacecraft actuators.
  • Expertise in control algorithms and real-time control for precision electromechanical systems.
  • Experience with embedded control systems, FPGA-based designs, and aerospace hardware integration.

Responsibilities

  • Lead architecture, requirements, design, and qualification of reaction wheels and momentum-control systems.
  • Develop and mature control algorithms for reaction wheel applications and safe-mode behaviors.
  • Oversee FPGA and embedded flight software development and integration for actuator systems.
  • Lead verification, test procedures, and data-analysis for component- and system-level testing.
