Blue Origin LLC in Longmont, CO is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to lead the architecture, development, and qualification of spacecraft attitude-control actuators and momentum-management systems, with emphasis on reaction wheels, motor-control electronics, embedded flight software, and FPGA development.

The role requires 15+ years of direct experience in reaction wheel systems, with strong skills in controls modeling, motor drives, hardware/software integration, and flight-heritage

Qualifications

• 15+ years of direct experience designing, developing, testing, and deploying reaction wheel systems
• Proficiency in C and/or C++ for embedded applications
• Experience with FPGA-based controls implementation and development workflows
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink for controls modeling, simulation, and embedded code generation
• Experience with real-time operating systems and deterministic embedded architectures

Responsibilities

• Lead system architecture and requirements for reaction wheels and momentum-control systems
• Develop and mature control algorithms for reaction wheel applications
• Design motor-control solutions for spacecraft actuators
• Develop real-time embedded control architectures and FPGA partitioning
• Lead embedded flight software development and health monitoring
• Define and implement FDIR strategies for actuators and software
• Oversee integration and test of hardware and software across teams
• Develop verification procedures and data-analysis methods
