Amazon in Redmond, WA is seeking a Sr. NPI Engineer for harness design to lead industrialization and production launch of wiring harnesses for space systems, driving DFM/DFT and cross-functional collaboration with design, supplier manufacturing, quality, and supply chain.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field.
5+ years of demonstrated experience taking products from engineering development through prototype, qualification, and production.
5+ years experience working with external suppliers to develop/select components for spacecraft design or related industries.
Strong understanding of DFM/DFA principles and manufacturing process development.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, BOMs, and specifications.
Experience developing work instructions, manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures, and inspection methods.
Experience with root-cause analysis and corrective action using methods such as 5-Why, 8D, and fishbone analysis.
Strong cross-functional communication skills and ability to work effectively with Design Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain and Manufacturing.

Responsibilities

Wire Harness NPI leads the transition of complex wire harness products from design to high volume manufacturing
Develop and own the end-to-end wire harness NPI strategy, aligning with design engineering, supplier manufacturing, quality and supply chain teams to meet product lifecycle milestones
Drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT) requirements
Optimize wire harness fabrication, assembly, and test processes to maximize yield and reduce costs, including in advanced/novel packaging
Lead cross-functional teams to resolve technical and supply constraints during the NPI phase, ensuring a seamless transfer to mass production
Guarantee that products meet quality standards and reliability specifications before product release in conjunction with the Supplier Quality team
