Job summary

Amazon Kuiper Manufacturing Enterprises LLC in Redmond, Washington is seeking a Sr. NPI Engineer to lead the industrialization and production launch of wiring harnesses for the satellite program.

The role involves driving DFM/DFT, coordinating with design, supplier manufacturing, quality, and supply chain to meet milestones, with a focus on cost, reliability, and readiness for mass production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years taking products from development through prototype, qualification, and production.
• 5+ years experience with external suppliers to develop/select components for spacecraft design or related industries.
• Strong understanding of DFM/DFA principles and manufacturing process development.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, BOMs, and specifications.
• Experience developing work instructions, manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures, and inspection methods.
• Experience with root-cause analysis and corrective action using methods such as 5-Why, 8D, and fishbone analysis.
• Strong cross-functional communication skills and ability to work effectively with Design Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain and Manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Wire Harness NPI leads the transition of complex wire harness products from design to high volume manufacturing.
• Develop and own the end-to-end wire harness NPI strategy, aligning with design engineering, supplier manufacturing, quality and supply chain teams to meet product lifecycle milestones.
• Drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT) requirements.
• Optimize wire harness fabrication, assembly, and test processes to maximize yield and reduce costs, including in advanced/novel packaging.
• Lead cross-functional teams to resolve technical and supply constraints during the NPI phase, ensuring a seamless transfer to mass production.
• Guarantee that products meet quality standards and reliability specifications before product release in conjunction with the Supplier Quality team.
