Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Staff Wire Harness Design Engineer to lead the design of high‑complexity wire harnesses for space and airborne systems. You will own schematic development, cable routing, connectors, and harness drawings, collaborating with electrical and mechanical engineers and harness technicians to deliver cutting‑edge hardware.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
• 8+ years of relevant industry or university research experience.
• Proficiency with harness design tools Capital Essentials or Zuken E3.
• Solid understanding of electrical/mechanical engineering, wire routing, impedance, shielding, EMC considerations.
• Ability to analyze and test harness designs to meet standards, safety and performance.
• Knowledge of IPC-WHMA-A-620 and NASA-STD 8739.4A.
• Experience with D38999, Micro-D, Nano-D connectors and M227569/M27500 wires.
• Aerospace industry experience.

Responsibilities

• Impact the design and development of high-complexity wire harnesses across space and airborne systems and related ground support equipment.
• Define and influence harness requirements and workmanship standards.
• Cultivate preferred parts lists based on reliability, availability and manufacturability.
• Ensure EMI/EMC compliance, radiation tolerance and space charging considerations.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to align harness designs with system requirements.
• Support integration, testing and troubleshooting of harness systems at multiple levels.
• Contribute to process improvements and standards in harness design.
• Coordinate with suppliers and contract manufacturers to manage supply chain, quality and schedules.
• Present technical solutions in reviews as the SME for interconnect systems.
