Job summary

BlackSky in Tukwila, WA is seeking a Senior Space Vehicle Systems Engineer to lead the definition, verification, and delivery of our spacecraft. You will collaborate daily with mechanical, electrical, software, and test engineers, operators, and program managers across the full lifecycle, from mission needs through in-orbit operation.

Reporting to the Director of Systems Engineering, this role is hybrid with three on-site days and flexible remote options.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Computer Science, Aerospace, Systems, or Electrical preferred).
• Minimum 5+ years in Aerospace/Defense, with 2+ years in real-time hardware/software analysis.
• Proficient with Python for data analysis and system modelling.
• Experience producing satellite budgets (power, mass, reliability).
• Strong requirements management and systems engineering artifacts (ICDs, IBDs, activity/sequence/state diagrams).

Responsibilities

• Organize, lead, and support development of SE deliverables.
• Build tools for analyzing test data at component to constellation levels.
• Decompose CONOPS into vehicle and subsystem requirements.
• Develop verification and test plans for system and subsystems.
• Communicate results and trades to engineers, managers, and customers.
• Identify automation to streamline workflows across Engineering, Production, and Ops.
