Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a Chief Engineer for Space Vehicle Autonomy to lead the architecture of autonomous decision-making for spacecraft. You will balance traditional rule-based autonomy with AI/ML techniques and integrate Space Domain Awareness into the autonomy stack.

The role requires deep expertise in autonomy, perception, and systems engineering, with responsibilities spanning design, verification, and collaboration across GN&C and mission operations teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering-related field.
• Minimum 20 years of advanced spacecraft design, development, or analysis experience.
• Experience as technical authority or chief engineer on complex spacecraft or autonomy programs.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical authority for space vehicle autonomy and set the architecture for onboard autonomous decision-making.
• Define and evolve autonomy architecture spanning rule-based and AI/ML approaches.
• Lead verification strategies across SIL/HIL, ensuring flight-qualified models are matured before flight.
