Job summary

Blue Origin in Seattle seeks a Principal Space Vehicle Autonomy Architect to lead on-orbit autonomy strategies, fleet-level coordination, and autonomous rendezvous across multiple programs. You will author trade studies and interface with GNC, ATX, and flight software teams to deliver autonomous capabilities while mentoring staff and ensuring rigorous verification and test processes.

The role supports national security, civil government, and commercial customers, with relocation and travel

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a technical field (Aerospace/Software/Electrical/Mechanical/Physics/Systems Engineering).
10+ years of space mission design and autonomous systems experience.
Experience with fleet-level autonomy and rendezvous & proximity operations (RPO).
Experience with autonomy and mission design tools like MATLAB/Simulink, STK, FreeFlyer or GMAT.

Responsibilities

Collaborate across customers and engineering teams to define autonomous deliverables.
Author proposal documents for national security, civil government, and commercial clients.
Coordinate with GNC, ATX, Flight Software, Telecom, and Sensor/Payload teams for trade studies.
Define goals and metrics to meet cost, performance, and schedule requirements.
Lead on-orbit autonomy architectures and roadmap planning.
Develop end-to-end autonomous system tests and oversee live mission activities.
