Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. is seeking aMechanical Engineer to join our team in Albuquerque, NM, to design and analyze space-qualified hardware for GEO, MEO, LEO and Cislunar programs.

You will lead structural and thermal analysis, design with CAD (SolidWorks), perform GD&T and tolerance analyses, and support integration and test across diverse R&D and production contracts, with eligibility for a U.S. security clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• 5 years' mechanical engineering experience in space systems.
• Structural and thermal analysis including FEA and thermal conduction.
• Design using CAD software, ideally SolidWorks.
• Tolerance analysis and GD&T practices.
• Space hardware design, integration, and test.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance.
• Strong technical writing for engineering documentation.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering design and analysis support to diverse R&D programs and small-volume production contracts
• Lead the structural and thermal analysis of mechanical systems for space and airborne hardware
• Work within a multi-disciplined project team
• Responsible for mechanical design and analysis activity, and support integration and formal acceptance-test activities
• Projects vary from packaging high reliability electronics subsystems to opto-mechanical mechanism design such as gimbal and steering mirror systems
• Other duties as assigned
