Job summary

AV is seeking a mid-career Mechanical Integration Engineer to provide engineering design, drafting and assembly support for diverse R&D programs and small-volume production contracts. The role involves designing mechanical components, coordinating with engineering, procurement, and machine shops, and ensuring parts meet design intent for repeatable lots.

The successful candidate will have 2+ years' CAD experience, GD&T knowledge, and hands-on assembly/testing experience in space hardware

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • 2+ years' experience in related areas.
  • Proficient in CAD software, ideally SolidWorks.
  • Knowledge of GD&T, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Space hardware design, integration, and test.
  • Strong technical writing for engineering docs.
  • Experience with Lean, Kaizen, and root cause analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Design for Manufacturing (DFM): modify or refine mechanical designs to mass-produce.
  • Process Integration: arrange assembly lines to maximize throughput and minimize waste.
  • Tooling & Equipment: design jigs, fixtures, and tooling for new launches and line setups.
  • Quality Control: establish testing protocols, analyze tolerances, PFMEA.
  • Troubleshooting & Optimization: root-cause analysis on equipment failures and bottlenecks using lean principles.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: liaison between product designers, supply chain vendors, and assembly line operators.
  • Other duties as assigned.
