Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a hands-on engineer to own R&D process development and qualification for solar panel module fabrication, from cell inspection to final PV assembly. You will lead equipment selection and commissioning, drive value streams, and mentor junior engineers in a fast-paced environment.

You will collaborate with design, test, and automation teams, contributing to cost reduction and schedule improvements while upholding spaceflight quality requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or closely related technical discipline.
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in manufacturing process development in PV, electronics, or precision assembly.
  • Demonstrated ownership mentality and proactive problem solving.
  • Collaborative team player with clear communication across disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Own process development and qualification for SPM fabrication: cell stringing and lamination.
  • Lead equipment selection, installation, and commissioning; including vacuum laminators and EL imaging.
  • Drive takt time analysis from prototype to high-rate production.
  • Develop PFMEAs and control plans; lead root cause investigations.
  • Author process specs and traveler documentation per AS9100 requirements.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technicians; contribute to cost-reduction roadmap.
