Job summary

Amazon Leo seeks a Senior Radiation Effects Engineer to ensure avionics and payload reliability for a LEO satellite constellation. You will perform radiation analysis, define test methods, qualify components, and investigate on-orbit events to safeguard performance.

Requirements include a EE degree and 3+ years in spaceflight avionics, with SEE/TID knowledge and experience with radiation modeling tools. AWS tools like S3/DynamoDB are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; equivalent experience.
• 3+ years in spaceflight avionics development, parts selection and radiation testing.
• 3+ years of design and qualification with radiation environments and radiation-tolerant hardware.
• Understanding of SEE and TID impacts on electronic systems.
• Experience with radiation environment modeling tools (listed).

Responsibilities

• Define, collect, and analyze TID, heavy ion, and proton test data to qualify components.
• Lead root-cause analysis for on-orbit radiation events and determine system-level impacts.
• Qualify electronic components including microcontrollers, memory, FPGAs, and PMICs.
• Provide guidance to electrical design engineers on radiation-sensitive components.
• Develop processes, testing standards, and documentation for radiation tests.
• Develop tools and dashboards to visualize on-orbit events and test results.
• Coordinate with supply chain and reliability teams to maintain qualification status.
