Job summary

Amazon Leo seeks a Senior Radiation Effects Engineer to ensure avionics and payload reliability across a growing LEO satellite constellation. You will lead testing and design guidance from components to subsystems, tackling SEE and TID challenges in a demanding space environment.

You will collect test data, qualify diverse components, and collaborate with electrical design engineers to apply radiation-tolerant practices while developing robust documentation and test standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years in spaceflight avionics development, parts selection, and radiation test.
• 3+ years system design and component qualification with radiation environments.
• Understanding of SEE and TID effects on electronic systems.
• Experience with radiation environment modeling tools (IRENE, SPENVIS, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Define, collect, and analyze TID, heavy ion, and proton testing data to qualify components against space radiation.
• Help determine system-level impact of radiation-induced failures.
• Qualify components including microcontrollers, memory, FPGAs, and power management hardware.
• Lead root-cause analysis of on-orbit radiation events and develop dashboards.
• Develop testing and reporting standards for radiation tests; coordinate with reliability teams.
