Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Senior Radiation Effects Engineer to lead key aspects of the Radiation Hardness Assurance program for LEO and beyond. You will simulate environments, plan tests, and advise hardware, software, and firmware teams on radiation tolerance in a startup-like environment.

The role requires a strong background in radiation physics, test planning, and experience with high-volume parts in space applications; excellent communication skills are essential for customer interactions

Qualifications

BS or higher in Electrical Engineering or Physics from an accredited university.
Minimum 5 years of space product experience.
Direct experience with automotive and high-volume commercial parts in radiation environments.
Excellent written and spoken communication abilities.

Responsibilities

Own key aspects of Radiation Hardness Assurance for LEO and beyond.
Simulate radiation environments for various orbits using tools such as OMERE.
Plan and conduct radiation tests on components and CesiumAstro's products (protons, heavy ions, total dose).
Predict upset rates by combining environmental simulations with test data.
Advise hardware engineers on part selection and software/firmware teams on radiation tolerant practices.
Participate in design reviews for hardware, software and firmware to ensure radiation reliability.
Digest customer requirements to shape the radiation roadmap.
