Job summary

SmithGroup in Denver seeks a Senior Space Planner to lead research, analysis, and planning solutions for higher education and institutional clients. You will manage large planning projects, develop space models with data analysts, and present findings to clients and internal teams.

The ideal candidate has a professional degree in a related field, 10+ years of experience, proficiency in data visualization, and willingness to travel 25–30% regionally/nationally.

Qualifications

• Professional degree in Architecture, Urban Planning, Data Science or related field.
• Minimum 10+ years related experience preferred.
• Experience with higher education planning, space management, and/or institutional research.
• Proficiency with data visualization software and data-based information.
• Strong leadership, mentoring and client-satisfaction skills.
• Willingness to travel regionally and/or nationally ~25-30%.

Responsibilities

• Lead in research, analysis, and distillation of data to develop planning solutions and recommendations.
• Manage project scopes, fees, contracts, deliverables and fee management for large planning projects.
• Collaborate with data analysts to create space models and analyses for clients.
• Present findings to internal teams, consultants, and clients.
• Lead production of project presentations, reports and deliverables.
• Develop and manage positive client relationships and balance expectations.
• Develop new tools and data visualizations and share thought leadership.
• Support recruiting, coaching and career development of staff.
• Attend national conferences and contribute to thought leadership.
