The Aerospace Corporation is seeking an Electronic Component Structural Analysis Engineer (Sr. Member of Technical Staff) to apply solid mechanics and finite element analysis to electronics packaging, harnesses, and antennas for space hardware.

The role emphasizes design and analysis across multiple design phases and collaboration with cross-functional teams. Responsibilities include developing criteria, coordinating tests, and delivering technical briefs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of professional or academic experience in structural engineering.
• Experience performing finite element analyses.
• Experience or coursework in structural mechanics (elasticity, plasticity, nonlinear materials).
• Experience with aerospace structural components and systems design, qualification, and testing.
• Willingness to travel occasionally (≈20%), domestically or internationally.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance (U.S. citizenship).
• 8+ years for the Engineering Specialist path with leadership and mentoring capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate, and resolve structural design and test issues for electronics components and coordinate detailed structural analyses.
• Develop design and analysis criteria, requirements, and specifications for structural designs across design phases.
• Develop and coordinate test plans, procedures, and success criteria for structural test programs.
• Monitor budgets and resources; determine scope of work and coordinate with relevant disciplines.
• Inform management and customers of technical problems and recommend actions; coordinate with teams to resolve issues.
• Advance skills in linear and nonlinear finite element analysis and thermostructural methods.
• Advise on development, analysis, and verification of electronic packaging and associated structural criteria.
• Provide timely technical recommendations to management and customers through briefs and reports.
