Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking an Electronic Component Structural Analysis Engineer to apply solid mechanics and FEM methods to space hardware, including electronics packaging and solar array components. The role emphasizes structural integrity across various space vehicle hardware and requires clear communication with customers and internal teams.

Key qualification areas include a Bachelor’s in mechanical/aerospace engineering, 5+ years in structural engineering, and proficiency with FEM

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of structural engineering experience.
• Experience performing finite element analyses.
• Experience with structural mechanics topics: elasticity, plasticity, nonlinear materials, plates and shells, energy methods, fracture, fatigue.
• Experience with design, qualification, and testing of aerospace structural components and systems.
• Willingness to travel ~20% domestically or internationally.
• Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. government security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate, and resolve structural design and test issues for electronics components.
• Coordinate detailed structural analyses to identify failure mechanisms and modes.
• Develop design criteria, requirements, and specifications for structural designs.
• Develop and coordinate structural test plans and success criteria.
• Monitor budgets and resources; coordinate with relevant disciplines.
• Provide technical recommendations to management and customers.
