Job summary

Trident Systems in Sterling, VA, seeks a Principal Electrical Design Engineer - Compute to own the architecture, design, and verification of advanced aerospace computing electronics, including flight computers and FPGA-based boards. You will guide hardware development from concept through production and lead critical design reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.
• 9+ years of experience designing complex electrical hardware.
• Ownership of board-level designs from concept to verification.
• Experience with high-speed digital interfaces (DDR, PCIe, Ethernet, LVDS).
• Ability to perform signal- and power-integrity analyses.
• Knowledge of power architecture, sequencing, and distribution for digital electronics.
• Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB design tools (Altium, Cadence/OrCAD, Siemens/Mentor).
• Hands-on hardware bring-up and troubleshooting with laboratory equipment.

Responsibilities

• Architect and design aerospace computing electronics including processor- and FPGA-based systems.
• Develop electrical architectures, schematics, and board-level designs.
• Lead electrical analyses: WCCA, derating, power, timing, SI and PI.
• Design high-speed interfaces like DDR, PCIe, Ethernet, LVDS, and more.
• Develop radiation-effects-mitigation approaches for space electronics.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead design reviews and trade studies.
