Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Communications Systems Engineer Professional to support the Space Force Range Contract (SFRC). You will administer RIU software and configurations, configure serial data circuits, and work with GPS receivers, Time Generators, and NTP servers, collaborating with Network Administrators on IPv6 protocols and telemetry transports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field.
• 3+ years of communication systems and network engineering experience.
• Experience with voice/data/analog and digital video systems.
• Current DOD 8140 certification (CCNA-Security, CySA+, or Security+) or able to obtain within 6 months.
• Experience with test equipment such as FIREBERD, OTDR, oscilloscopes, signal analyzers, and fiber meters.
• Hands-on experience with network hardware (Cisco, Palo Alto, Juniper, Cornet, NetAcquire, RT Logic, IPTec).
• Experience responding to cybersecurity incidents and solving technical problems.
• Willingness to work non-duty hours for project needs.
• Experience with comms systems administration on military installations (e.g., Vandenberg SFB).
• Experience with serial data, fiber optics, multiplexing, data switching, and TDM technologies.
• Experience with IPv6 solutions and encrypted data streams.
• Proficiency with MS Office/Project/SharePoint.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel.

Responsibilities

• Administer RIUs software and configurations.
• Recommend changes to improve systems and determine hardware/software requirements.
• Configure and test serial data circuits (T1, DS1/DS3, RS232/422).
• Work with GPS receivers, Time Generators, and NTP servers.
• Support IPv6 protocols, data, and telemetry transports.
• Plan and implement system security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute continuous monitoring for ATO.
• Assist leadership in estimating, reporting, and planning network tasks.
• Participate in RMB and identify network risks.
• Adhere to safety, security, and timekeeping policies.
