Job summary

Blue Origin LLC in Washington seeks a Power Engineer for spacecraft avionics, responsible for designing, developing, and testing critical electrical systems from components to integrated hardware.

You will collaborate across mechanical, thermal, software, and systems teams to ensure radiation-hardened, reliable power architectures, lead harness fabrication, and support vehicle-level testing and launches.

Qualifications

  • Requires BS in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • 7+ years of avionics/power hardware development in high-reliability contexts.
  • Hands-on experience building/wiring harnesses and prototype electronics.
  • Understanding of circuit analysis, derating, and power budgeting.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test spacecraft avionics systems.
  • Lead the design and analysis of power generation, energy storage, regulation, and distribution architectures.
  • Fabricate, assemble, and test harnesses and prototype hardware for rapid prototyping.
  • Design for space radiation environments and apply radiation hardening (TID/SEE).
  • Define and manage sensor interfaces (IMUs, star trackers, magnetometers, transducers).
  • Develop schematics, manage PCB layout, and perform SPICE simulations.
  • Create test plans and reports for hardware verification and validation at multiple levels.
  • Troubleshoot hardware issues across integrated systems and support vehicle-level testing.
